Welcome to Wags and Whiskers pet Grooming. We are a friendly one to one pet groomers based in Takeley.
Tailored to your pets needs, we will give them exactly what they need when they arrive, whether it's a cut, clean, nail clip or teeth descale; they will end up pampered to perfection!
Good morning everyone I hope you are all keeping well. Nearly six weeks ago I made the difficult decision to close my doors in order to keep my customers Fran & myself safe during the COVID-19 outbreak, which is still far from over.
After a lot of deep and careful consideration I have, for many reasons made the decision to RE-OPEN on the 4th May 2020. I am aware that my decision to re-open will not please everyone. However, the lack of proper grooming –especially for certain breeds- is becoming a welfare issue which will only get worse, particularly with the hotter weather coming. I therefore feel this is the right and a necessary decision.
Appointments will be restricted to begin with and I will ONLY be grooming dogs that are in genuine need-please be prepared to provide a photo when making an appointment. I will not be de-matting severely matted dogs –the mats will have to be trimmed out- nor will I be charging any extra or penalizing anyone for matted coats, as we have all tried our very best during these difficult times. I will be giving a general groom (bath, trim, thorough brush etc.) to make your dogs feel comfortable again. Should your dog be in real discomfort due to knots please call me to discuss and I will try and get you in sooner.
If you have an appointment already booked from the 4thMay and your dog NEEDSto be groomed your appointment will still stand, however if it is not essential please let me know so that the appointment can be offered to those in greater need. For those who have had appointments cancelled while I have been closed, whose dogs NEEDto be groomed- please call to rebook and I will try to prioritise your booking.
When restrictions begin to be lifted I will fully reopen to all customers.
There will obviously be very strict guidelines to accompany the reopening:
Payment can only be made over the phone or via bank transfer prior to the appointment
Upon arrival, please stay in your car and call from your mobile to inform me you are waiting- I will then come out and collect your dog from you.
To minimise risk I will wear gloves at all times and there will be minimal contact time with human customers and myself.
Please DO NOT arrive any more than 5 minutes late to your appointment or you will be refused. This is to ensure there is a minimum of 20 minutes between each appointment and prevents the risk of customers coming into contact with each other.
Please come alone to your dogs Appointment it is NOT an outing.
I will be working alone 7 am - 7pm and taking all the correct procedures needed to keep safe
Upon returning to collect your dog the same procedure will be followed-please call from your car and I will bring your dog out
Please DO NOT attend the appointment if you are feeling unwell in any way.
If your dog NEEDS a groom and you are struggling financially during these difficult times, please let me know and I will be happy to help where I can.
Please think when making an appointment whether the groom is essential.
I would like to thank you for your support, understanding and patience at this difficult time. Stay safe, well and take care.

Wags and Whiskers
My name is Naomi, and I am the owner of Wags and Whiskers Ltd. I have been grooming for nearly11 years and in 2016 decided it's time for me to 'go solo' and start my own business.
I have owned dogs and cats all my life and I'm very experienced when it comes to pet care.
I currently own 4 Maine Coon cats, 2 Springer Spaniels and one Black Labrador; I spend all my spare time with these guys.
From the age of 14 I worked in a boarding kennel on weekends for one of the top well known Schnauzer breeders for nearly two years where I would feed, walk, wash and care for all the dogs that were being boarded as well as the owners Schnauzers. By the age of 15 I was you could say, practically running the kennel and got to know all the dogs individual needs.
This then inspired me so much I decided I wanted to learn more about the care of animals and enrolled at Chapel Manor College. I spent two years getting my first diploma in animal care which I completed with a distinction; the highest qualification. I also received the award for the most care and dedication to animals. Whilst at college, I had to complete 3 weeks work experience to complete my course. I chose one week at a pet shop and two weeks at grooming parlour which is where at the age of 17, I decided that grooming was for me! I got offered a job there and proceeded to do all of my training and learning with the help of some very experienced people. I then went on to complete and receive my level 3 city and guilds certificate in dog grooming and by the age of 21 I was made manager. I then decided at 25 I would like to go solo and start up my own place.
In my spare time since a very young age, I have had the greatest opportunities such as being involved in owning, caring and fostering different trained search dogs who all have been successful in their completed training to a very high standard. This is a very hard but rewarding job, one that I never wish to give up, Gaining this experience and being trusted with such a difficult task has bought me great opportunities to groom highly trained police, army and search dogs from over the country. I enjoy and have a specialised skill in grooming large breed and working dogs, however i enjoy styling all breeds.
